мека мебелLately, I’ve been in this very unusual place, not a physical place, but a place in time and space. For some reason, in the last month my age has been called into question.

I haven’t had this kind of scrutiny since I started practice.

Except, this time, instead of actually being young, I’m actually older than people think.

Yesterday, I wore a shirt and tie to the office and the most common random question I got all day was “Did you just get back from a mission?” Only in Utah would I get that.

Time does march on.

So, I guess I’d rather have people think of me as younger than older. I’ve made the opposite mistake before.

I saw a new patient 2 months ago and he was 25 years old, with a 2 year old child and a body that screamed old and decrepit.

I’ve wanted to write about this phenomenon since then, but I couldn’t figure out how until this morning.

Would you like the secret to growing old gracefully?

Here it is? Two words! How easy is that?

Inertia
and
Entropy

Inertia is the tendancy of an object or a person to stay still unless acted upon by an outside force.

So how does that matter? Well, a ball doesn’t get up and move through the air by itself, it needs a person to throw it.

The same goes for your body. It doesn’t move unless you deliberatly get up and move it. Movement is life, hint, hint.
Couch potatoes need not apply.

Your muscles need to move to stay strong. I broke my leg annd spent 2 months in a cast. Guess what happened to the size of my leg? It was tiny in 2 months.

Your nerves need motion. Yes, they send electrical signals and physical signals along their path. A spinal bone that isn’t moving can stop that flow 60%. See a chiro and live better.

Your intestines need motion. Your blood has to flow. Your brain has to having moving fluid to be healthy. Everything has to move.

So get moving and live better.

Entropy is the natural downward spiral of a highly organized “thing” to a less organized “thing”.

If you build a beautiful house with every modern amenity, then never touch it for years, never mow, never trim the trees, never clean, never do anything, what happens?

In 10 years, you’ll likely not be able to even see the thing.

Decay and Disintegration is natural.

The goes for your body. Without active participation on your part, you will decay, just like rusting metal or a sea cliff.

How do you combat entropy?

One word. Hey it’s getting easier to be healthy. We are down to one word instead of two.

Ready?

Discipline.

You are in charge of you.
What you eat.
What you drink.
When and if you exercise.
When you go to the chiropractor.
How you think.
How you move forward in life.

You are you.

Most of you have read this blog for many years. I usually write about health and every few months I throw some lifestyle things in here, because they indirectly relate to your health. Health is really physical, mental, and spiritual.

You probably have noticed that sometimes epiphany messages come right at the right time and you have those ahh ha moments at unusual times.

I had that moment today. I was laying in bed thinking, jeez, I’m tired and pondering not going to church. I was out late last night, working :)

I felt compelled to go, not out of guilt, but out of just a plain thought I was going to miss something today.

It was so good I felt the need to pass it along to you.

Why is it that “we” never have any extra money?


That was a ponderous question and when people who earn $35,000 were asked, “How much money would you need to feel comfortable?” They responded $75,000.

The $75,000 were asked the same question and they answered $150,000.

The $150,000 were asked the same thing and they responded half- million.

Unless you follow a few simple rules, you’ll never have enough.

Are you ready?

Step 1: Admit that you are rich. You may not feel that way, but compared to most of the rest of the world we have a ton of stuff, advantages, freedoms, choices, and opportunities. If you feel guilty, you can change that emotion to that of gratitude. Sometime every day be thankful for what you have.

Step 2: Don’t be arrogant. This doesn’t apply to most of you. But, you all know the kid driving the convertible BMW that daddy bought for him, waving his hands around like the world should bow to him.

Step 3: Don’t put your hope in what you have will make you invincible. Life can and often will throw you curve balls, earthquakes, tornadoes, cancer, heart attacks, etc. So follow up with the next step.

Step 4: Do “good” with what you have and the time you have.

Step 5: Be “generous” with the extra money you have. To do this you have to do one thing. “Cap” your lifestyle. If you don’t do this you’ll never ever have enough. ie. How many yachts can you water ski behind?

We are all commanded to give. Life fulfillment reaches a wonderful feeling when you help others. That can be helping clean up a tornado’s destruction, or helping a lost child find their parent, or anonymously donating a bunch of money.

I know my gift is helping people move towards a more natural lifestyle and healthier habits. I try and serve others every day. So think about how you can reach out and “give” a little more this week. Time, Talents, Money?

Part 1


Saving lives is heavy stuff.  Obviously, if you crash your car and are impaled with glass and steel you need an E.R. doc, but in every day life two of the most amazing things people don’t usual think of are chiropractic adjustments and supplements. I know one chiropractor that really did save a babies life with an adjustment. After a fall he quit breathing, and after a very gentle neck adjustment he started gasping for air.
