КартиниLast night I did a class in the office on having healthy kids. I have 3 kids and I want them to be as healthy as possible, so over the past 16 years I’ve made a point to seriously consider what makes a healthy person.
Cover of Mark Twain
Don’t listen to the mainstream
This is probably the easiest way to evaluate health advice. I seem to remember Mark Twain saying something to the effect of — when ever you find yourself on the side of the majority, you are usually wrong.
I realized after the class, that having healthy kids can be a very daunting task if you buck the current trends.
In 2010 the Utah dept. of health found that 20.4% of elementary students are overweight, most are boys. Nationally, 80% of kids are obese by age 12.
That’s appalling
Seriously, this isn’t a problem for medical doctors, government agencies, or schools. They are focused on money, not health. Insurance companies don’t pay for you to be healthy. It isn’t really health care, it is sick care.
Being healthy takes money and it has to be a family priority, period. But, how about a few ideas that don’t cost anything or much.
#1 Change your brain. Most people still have an outside-in approach to health. Why do I know that? Only 3% of the nation goes to chiropractors, 65% of people are overweight, and no other nation takes more medications than the USA.
Take a pill, get surgery, take a shot. Uh,uh, no siree bob. Health is an inside-out job. Always was and always will be. If you are ill and remain ill for an extend period of time, your insides are rotten, dying, malnourished, and weak.
#2 Asthma is a major problem with kids. The Outside approach is what? A steroid inhaler, right. So where is it coming from? Well, we talked about an article in the medical journal Chest, that linked a 50% increase in asthma in very young children to antibiotics. (another outside approach)
Here are 3 inside approaches I’ve seen help. First, probiotics can help undue the damage to the guts from the antibiotics. Second, in the amazing book, Your bodies many cries for Water, asthma is listed as a byproduct of dehydration. It is a pretty fascinating thought. Third, is using chiropractic to release nerve pressure going to the nerves of the lungs.
#3 ADHD. This is a very large problem. For one, active normal kids are being misdiagnosed as hyperactive pretty regularly, estimates are close to a million kids. But a true ADHD outside approach is to use a psycho-active drug like Ritalin. (nothing like a little kiddie cocaine to make a classroom all warm a fuzzy)
Now remember, this is a summary of an hour long class. Here are some natural inside out approaches that any family can do.
- Eliminate grains and sugars from the child’s diet. They heavily contribute to allergic reactions and diabetes.
- Replace all drinks with water. Once again, they heavily contribute to allergic reactions (milk) and diabetes (soda).
- Add fish oils / cod liver oils (very critical for normal brain function by adding essential fatty acids).
- Avoid all processed foods, severely devoid of critical vitamins and minerals . Give them whole, natural foods and whole food supplements. Without nutrition the brain works poorly. See the book “The Crazy Makers”.
- Get the kids adjusted by a chiropractor. I can’t begin to relate the amazing stories I’ve seen involving cerebral palsy, SIDS, asthma, ADHD, sleeping, colic, self-mutilation, nausea while reading, failure to thrive, walking, running, and on and on. All improved with an adjustment to a bone causing pressure on a nerve.
I’ve seen all these have major impacts on kids. I shared a lot of stories in the class of patients and friends whose kids lives have been radically improved by these simple things. Ask me anytime about how to help kids.
Besides my website, and seeing me in person. The two main references I used for the class are the book “The Crazy Makers” and the website Mercola.com. Please read more and become angry about the sad state of the health of our children. It takes a strong and dedicated parent unwilling to cave to mass media to make a difference.
