That last time I was in a quarry I wasn’t thinking about digging up calcium supplements. Sadly, most calcium on the market is just that…LIMESTONE. The technical term on the label is calcium carbonate. If you think back to when you were a kid and one of your friends was eating dirt and rocks, my guess is that they were labeled “special” or “unusual”. They probably weren’t friends very long. If I told you to go and swallow your rocks today, you’d think I was off my rocker. This is what is happening with calcium supplements everyday. Look at the label, if it says “calcium carbonate” you’ve got rocks and a near insoluable form of calcium. That’s why the medical people recommend you take so darn much. Most of the calcium on the market is sold as calcium carbonate.
As usual Standard Process is way ahead of the curve. They use Calcium Lactate. Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body and used for almost every body process. It is important.
A few things you should know:
- Calcium Lactate is also mixed with Magnesium Citrate to give it a slight bit of acidity. Calcium needs an acid environment to be absorbed. This is one reason Standard Processes calcium lactate is better than other companies calcium lactate. This is especially important for older people (whose stomach acid production declines) and for people taking acid reflux drugs.
- Calcium Lactate is also a very easy for the body to ionize and utilize, unlike calcium carbonate.
- It is only one chemical step for your body to make Calcium Lactate usable, it takes many steps for calcium carbonate.
A few of the regular things we use it for:
- Great for the immune system
- Osteoporosis
- Canker Sores
- Insomnia
- Any nervous system problem
This is why Calcium Lactate is one of Standard Processes Fundamental Products
