Sometimes the best intentions turn against you. You can learn from my misery. Literally, at 2:30am I had gut wrenching pain…well…in my guts. The pain was so intense it woke me from a very sound sleep. So you might be wondering what could cause this late night gut bomb.
Last night I was at the Twins game and had a little stadium food. I really know better, but I was pretty cold and wet and something warm inside sounded really good. I was thinking… so this is why they want an open air stadium. No matter. We had fun any way. The real misery came later.
Now, I can tell you the last time I felt this terrible, October 31, 2008. I can’t remember yesterdays lunch, but I can remember that day a year and a half ago. I ate a hot dog at a Halloween party. Wow, another terrible night.
So here is the lesson for the day. There used to be a time when I could eat any food under the sun. For a lot of people they can eat all kinds of processed food and not have severe reactions.
How is that possible?
The human body is very, very adaptable. You can get used to almost any thing. If you go to a baseball game and have a couple hot dogs and feel great the next morning, that doesn’t make them nutritious or good for you in any way, your body can either adapt very well, or is used to processed food.
So here is a thought. What are you used to? T.V. dinners? soda? Candy? Smoking? Exercise? Broccoli? The better I eat and take care of myself the less I can tolerate processed food.
If you work on improving the quality of your food, and it can be as simple as changing just one thing a day, your body will thank you over the long haul. It will eventually remind you at 2:30am with immense pain when you screw up.
P.S. I got up and took 2 of Standard Processes new enzyme supplement “Enzycore” and in about 15 minutes I was back to sleep. I took more vitamins in the morning to off-set the other problems inherent in a processed food. (primarily Catalyn and Cataplex B)
