I do some of the shopping for our family. I normally make the small runs to the grocery store or the farmers market when we are out of something.
It is far better for you and the planet to shop local. As much as you can try and shop the farmers markets and local farms.
According to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture there are 2 certified organic farms in Brown County. They have farms listed for all the counties just check online. They are NOT all organic at this website, call or email the farm. You can get an organic book sent to you.

Just talk to the people at the farmers market or local co-ops and you will find what you are looking for. Our sources are tapped out and can’t take on new business. Lots of people are eating organic food but you may not know it.
Organic food in the general population is still seen as a weird waste of money. Believe me, the more people that get cancer the more people don’t think it is weird. So, many people don’t talk a lot about organic food until they know you aren’t going to criticize them.
If you don’t have an organic source for food or a local farm to buy from, you will have to put yourself out there and start asking because no one is going to come up to you and say “hey, wanna buy some veggies”.
This is an exercise in taking charge of your health. Your health will be a priority in your life whether you like it or not. If you wait, a critical illness will pop up later and get your attention.
Did you know?
In traditional societies the role of the Grandparent was to get hard to find food. They would walk or travel the larger distances to get special food because they had the time to do it. Call Grandma and tell her how much you love her and butter her up with some flowers and ask if she can help bring some organic food to your house from the farmers market. Send her on a meat run. If you buy a 1/4 grass-fed cow, it may last you all year. If you have to drive an hour to get it once a year, big deal. I drive an hour for a baseball tournament.
Here is the shopping list again to get you started.
P.S. Don’t have a heart attack looking at it because there isn’t any pop or cereal on it.
