There Is A Dead Body In The Basement!
If you are looking to find some health, you may need to do some grave digging.
It may sound like I have seen too many scary movies or am having flash backs to the movie “The Burbs” with Tom Hanks, but I promise there is a point to the dead bodies.
If you discover something icky in your basement and all the police are on strike, what could you do?
You could call “CSI”, I guess.
You could put a blanket over it.
Or maybe dig a hole.
You could put an air freshener in the room.
You’re probably trying to figure out how to desperately cover-up the smell and even the sight. You don’t want to go downstairs and do laundry and well—you know.
I may just need a break from Halloween or late night crime shows. My point is coming.
Now, if you can suspend your disbelief a little more, it’s a mouse body.
Ha: I got you:
Things are not always as they appears. If it is only a mouse, it isn’t so bad, right?
The point of my little story is simple. If you have a health problem—you are left with 2 choices.
-
You can put a blanket over it. This would be the equivalent of taking medications. Sometimes you need a warm blanket. But you can’t stay in bed forever. Some of you would probably like to stay in bed all day. Covering up a problem doesn’t make it go away, it is just hidden. You still have a dead body in your basement. This is the easy way to feel better.
-
You can work on fixing the problem. Here lies the problem. Letting your body heal takes time, changing your life or diet takes time, effort and money. But, there is no dead body. This is the equivalent of calling the pest eliminators and getting the smelly thing out of there.
You wouldn’t be reading this newsletter if you didn’t want to fix problems or prevent them.
So to start fixing problems there are a few rules.
68% of ALL Deaths Are Diet Related.

I personally think after reading some of the greatest nutritional news and research I have ever seen:
It’s closer to 90%. Almost every problem, except the genetic ones, have a link to vitamins and/or minerals or another nutritional component, like protein or fats, etc.
T he First Rule :
#1 Cheap food is cheap for a reason. Food manufacturers have to make money for the shareholders. They cut every corner they can. They are even doing it to organic food.
Grocery store food is stripped of natural vitamins so it can sit on a shelf and not spoil longer. If bacteria won’t eat or live on the food you are buying, what makes you think your body can live on it?
“But Dr. Altman, it was on sale.”
Just because rat poison is on sale at Runnings, doesn’t mean you need to buy it and eat it.
“But Dr. Altman, it tastes sooo gooood.”
Food manufacturers make tobacco companies look like bell ringers at Christmas. They add chemicals to make it taste great and be addicting.
A s your body slowly and I must repeat-slowly-loses nutrients from processed food, health problems start showing up. Because the problems seems to show up rapidly or are suddenly “discovered”, the nutrient loss is NEVER considered.
For example:
-Lack of Vitamin C=Scurvy. We don’t see full blown scurvy nowadays but you do see low grade problems, like bleeding gums and bruising for no reason, or poor teeth and bone development.
-Lack of Vitamin A can lead to kidney stones
-Lack of Vitamin E is essential for proper muscle function
-And on and on and on. We have 10 pages of related problems.
Here is the number one thing that keeps people from being as healthy as possible is the fact that it is hard. You have to put some effort into it.
As Jack Lalane says “Dying is easy, living is a pain in the butt”
It is harder to be healthy than to be unhealthy.
So, where is the good news? It is all good news.
What?
It sounds terrible, I don’t know what to eat or buy, “I’ll just do nothing.”
No!
Just do something. “The journey of 1000 miles begins with one step”-unknown
You don’t have to know everything or do everthing.
You could:
-check out books in the front of the office.
-ask me in the office
-come to the Wednesday night classes
-go to the library
One easy thing to do. Stop buying any white bread products. Test animals die from vitamin and mineral deficiencies in 3-4 weeks if they are fed only white bread, while maintaining health on whole wheat.
The biggest killer and the toughest to eliminate:
Candy and sugar
They are completely missing vitamins, mineral, and proteins, but they supply energy and satisfy hunger. If you spend anytime looking at shopping carts, you will see pure junk food in most carts. It will always sell, because it tastes good.
Building your body, or more importantly your kid’s body with candy and sugar (junk food) is like building a car out of gasoline. The fuel doesn’t make the structure.
Once again, just buy less junk food, save your money and your health. Then you can spend more on organic food or local farm food.
